Photography Tours - Learn
photography or improve your photography skills with photojournalist Jonathan
Taylor while touring Southeast Asia.
Photography School Asia
is a truly unique opportunity for keen photographers of all levels,
beginners to budding professional to learn photography while able to tour Southeast Asia. They'll improve their photography skills and contacts
while exploring the beautiful landscape and people of these countries.
Adventure Holidays, Activity Vacations are all the rage, people are looking to
gain a bit more out of their trips abroad by broadening their experiences. Photography Tours are even more popular and Photography Tours in Southeast Asia are booming. But in reality what do most of these tours really offer. Many seem to be little more than your average “adventure tour” with the added addition of having an evening photography critique.

That's why I was delighted to discover
Photography School Asia's Photography Tours in Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. The school is run and owned by internationally renown photojournalist Jonathan Taylor.
He has spent the last 15 years photographing Southeast Asia for publications such as Time Magazine
and The Guardian Weekend Magazine. His unique courses are created especially for
the student helping them to best
maximize their time. His classes are run in and around Bangkok, further into Thailand and through to Laos and Cambodia.
Jonathan Taylor
was once described in an interview as the Weegee of Bangkok, named after the great New York crime photographer of the early 30's because Taylor’s work tended to illustrate the
darker side of Asian Society. From drug crazed Thai youths tearing at each others throats to mafia hit-men coolly talking about their kills. “ It got me down after a while” explains the 42 year old photographer. “I was pigeon holed into something I didn’t want to be, I am proud of the work I did over that period, each story needed telling but it all became a bit too heavy for a while”.
“Now luckily I am getting more diverse assignments and I have also started
Photography School Asia
which I am very exited about. I want to share my knowledge of the region and the photography industry with other budding photographers, and Photography School Asia is a great platform to do so”.
Photography School Asia’s courses are truly unique, whilst many companies are
offering photography tours, none are run by such an established photographer as Taylor or intend to push the photographer’s skills and actually teach. Taylor explains “ I want to
maximize the time I have with my students, I won't just take them to a location and leave them, everything is a learning process. From them choosing what they want to shoot, to gaining access then editing processing and possible publishing the results. I want my students to take from the course an experience like no other and be ready to push on and do more by themselves afterwards.”
Photography School Asia has kept the price for the courses down to a minimum to help make available the lessons to younger
travelers as well as the professional on the start of their career. All levels of photographers are being accommodated for including beginners and photography enthusiasts up to top level professionals who need tips on the region. Taylor also speaks Thai fluently which helps facilitate the study easier.
