This replacement filter contains 4 stages of filtration. As air passes through the filter, two pre-filters remove large airborne particulates such as dust particles, pollen, hair, and debris. It then passes through a carbon/zeolite filter that is impregnated with potassium iodide; this removes odors, gases, VOCs, and harsh chemicals like formaldehyde and ammonia. Then a HEPA filter, which is 99.97% effective, traps particles as small as 0.3 microns; this includes bacteria, viruses, and allergens.
