Thought I'd share with you some pictures of my teddy bears. Only a few are collectible teddy bears, majority are just cute teddy bears people have given me.
First teddy bear picture you see is April, an adorable teddy bear given to me
shortly after my Mom passed away. My niece thought you couldn't help but smile
looking at her and that's definitely true. One of my favorites, a little Russ
teddy bear with his arm in a sling is from a hospital gift shop
when my Mom was sick. Everybody fell in love with that little bear. When
she would be away
from her room having tests done the nurses would tuck the little fella under the
sheets with his little head resting on the pillow. Nurses, patients and visitors shared
a lot of big smiles.
My collectible teddy bears include Cherished Teddies from the Cinderella and
Wizard of Oz series as well as several others. There's a 911 fireman teddy bear
figurine from the Hamilton collection, Muffy VanderBear and Penelope, a Raikes
Bear. Raikes Bears are mohair bears
with a hand carved face and wooden paw pads.
Most are limited edition collectible teddy bears.
Tedward Jonathon Bearkin is a limited edition bear by teddy bear artist Beverly Port for Gorham. He's
a fully jointed musical bear that plays "Teddy Bear Picnic". Thought he needed a
little buddy so I made him a girl friend bear named Kaitlin Victoria. If any
of you are making teddy bears, I've purchased bears for around $3.99 then made
their outfits with fabric, flowers, lace, pearls, ribbon and other accessories
purchased from craft stores fairly cheap.
After having made an outfit for Kaitlin bear I got a little carried away. The teddy bears in love are Ashlea Pearl, the bride bear and Cody Christopher, the groom bear. Another of the wedding teddy bears is the Mother of the bride bear, Mama Violet bear. The bridesmaid bear (Ashlea's younger sister who's wearing the lavender lace dress) is Amanda bear.
Other pictures of teddy bears featured are a rather large Vermont Teddy Bear named Jacob, several black bears, brown bears, cream color bears, white bears and, of course, purple bears. Dark purple bear is a Vermont Teddy Bear, lavender bear is a Gund teddy bear and the little one is a Hallmark birthstone bear. Little guy in peach overalls is Benjamin, little skeleton bear is Boo bear and a small tan bear is Itty, Bitty bear. All bears given to me are named after that person.
Also in the pictures are the Del Monte bear, Grizzly the Motts bear, the Nabisco
Olympics bear, Snuggles and the Teddy Graham Bears. (Chocolatey Chip, Chunky Chocolate, Spicey Cinnamon and Yummy Honey)
I've managed to sneak some teddy bears in spots around my house that are in the pictures, too. A teddy bear cookie jar resides in my kitchen, little guy on a miniature rocking horse and one on a bicycle sit atop tables in my living room. A couple of baskets filled with smaller bears tucked into places, some sit together on a rocking chair and a few are grouped together with the hat box in a corner of my living room. Most of my teddy bears though are in an old fashioned leaded glass barrister bookcase in my dining room.
Not all of my teddy bears are in the pictures but I thought you might enjoy seeing some of them. As I said, some are collectible bears but most are just cute teddy bears I've been given. That makes them very, very special bears, because those people gave me them.
